Frequently Asked Questions

Where will the clean and used sharps and clinical waste containers be stored on the hospital site? How much storage space will be required? Both in stores and on wards?

Safety engineered devices on the wards will not take up any more space than is already taken up by single-use containers. The storage location of centralised stock on site will depend on where there is available room within the facility. We usually find this is within compound or delivery hub and the Sharpsmart transporter takes up less room and holds more waste (when full) than the singe use containers. The amount of stock required on site will depend on the frequency of Sharpsmart deliveries and collections, which is contingent on each customer’s individual requirements. A thorough efficiency survey is performed to identify the benefits of Sharpsmart related to storage and internal movements of containers. When empty, a Sharpsmart transporter is utilised for transport of the full units; therefore providing an effi cient storage solution. Each transporter is then thoroughly cleaned so that it can be reused to house empty units.
