Comprising a range of bespoke components and blended learning tools, including bag dispensers and waste labels, the Bag to Bedside solution is designed to promote higher levels of correct segregation efficiency.

Clinical and offensive waste bins are removed from the ward and a bag system is put in place to collect waste at the point of generation, thereby significantly reducing the risk of cross contamination to the patient environment. Each bag dispenser is supported by illustrative and colour-coded waste segregation posters, ensuring that staff are able to clearly distinguish waste stream requirements by colour and waste description.

99.6% reduction in the amount of plastic landfilled per annum

Upon converting from reusable containers to the Sharpsmart reusable system, one hospital achieved a 28% waste reduction and 84% reduction in carbon emissions across their 103 facilities, achieving atotal waste reduction of 3500 kilos of plastic and cardboard waste per 100 beds per annum. Furthermore, a 51% reduction in container exchange labour was achieved by the install of larger Sharpsmart containers that were more suitable to volume requirements.
