Decisions about container size and type, waste bags, placement, fill levels, segregation and collection schedules can all influence the amount of resource required.

A total cost assessment looks at these factors together. It gives procurement and finance teams a more realistic basis for comparing different service models and understanding where costs are actually being generated.
