North West Clinical Waste Disposal Services
Some of the most measurable results in Sharpsmart’s UK portfolio come from the North West. More than 600 healthcare facilities across the region rely on us for clinical waste management – among them trusts that have documented an 85%+ drop in needlestick injuries, 122 hours of clinical staff time recovered annually, and an 87.5% reduction in overtreated waste. We’ve been operating here since 2000.
Our North West Operations Hub
North West customers are serviced from our Normanton plant at Unit 1, Loscoe Close, Normanton WF6 1TW – one of the most capable sites in our network. Beyond sharps processing, Normanton handles alternative treatment (orange bag) waste and heavy metals on-site, functions most regional facilities can’t offer, and operates as a clinical waste transfer station with full reusable container washing lines.
What happens at our Normanton plant:
- Sharps, orange bag, and heavy metals streams are processed and treated on-site.
- Reusable containers are washed, decontaminated, and returned to circulation.
- Documented chain of custody runs from collection through treatment.
A Vision for Safety
Our ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 certifications, SafeContractor accreditation (OQ4530), and membership with the HWMA, CIWM, and ESA mean our compliance credentials are independently audited.
